NDN exists because there is a need for individuals and lifestyle brands to be both mindfully and beautifully self expressed through meaningful content. Content can be defined rather broadly: a conversation, photos, words, video, art, fashion, music, events--anything of substance that leaves a lasting impression for those on the other side of the experience. Content is anything that can touch, move, and inspire. NDN facilitates powerful story telling through curated expression.
Nkechi Deanna Njaka, MSc. is the founder of NDN. She is an integrated lifestylist combining her backgrounds in neuroscience, dance, nutrition and fashion to create a mindful and creative space for individual consulting, coaching and content creation.
She attended Scripps College in Claremont, CA where she majored in neuroscience and dance and went on to complete an MSc. in Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh. She attended the Institute of Integrated Nutrition and holds a certification in Holistic Health and Nutritional Counseling. She has also completed The Embodied Mind 200 hour Teacher Training with Jill Satterfield and is a RYT and meditation teacher.
Nkechi has spent the majority of her life investigating the relationship between the brain and the body and has always felt the significance of their integration. She was originally interested in how fear and anxiety prevented her from living a fully expressed life in certain circumstances while simultaneously knowing that participatory arts like dance gave her the freedom to self express. She longed for this to be in balance and true for all people everywhere.
For several years, Nkechi worked as a neuroscientist as well as a professional modern dancer/choreographer. Sometimes she held both professions at the same time, but the work was compartmentalized and separate. After experiencing burn out from pursuing these separately, Nkechi spent a significant amount of time in self inquiry. She asked herself what she could create that would combine both while promoting and sustaining individual and global wellbeing.
Before creating NDN, Nkechi supported fashion designers, fashion startups, retail brands, yoga studios and wellness centers as a freelance branding and content consultant. By creating and curating lifestyle content for yoga and fitness professionals, studios and wellness publications, she naturally developed an incredible network of resources and collaborators. Subsequently, Nkechi developed a unique and holistic content curation process that she implements in every NDN client interaction.
When not involved in NDN projects, you can find Nkechi teaching Mindful Movement or Mindful Style classes + workshops, taking a yoga/ modern dance class or choreographing independent work. She also enjoys writing, live music and travel. Nkechi currently a recipient of the 2017-2018 Artist Fellowship and sits as an artist-in-residence with Scripps College as part of the Lois Langland Alumnae in Resident Program. She creates, curates, coaches and collaborates in San Francisco, California
